Dr. Toshevi Sümi Totimi MBBS Award
Introduction
Dr. Toshevi Sümi Totimi MBBS Award is an initiative of Dr. Toshevi Keditsu Sema, to be officiated the Dr. K & T Keditsu Foundation in collaboration with Sümi Totimi Hoho, Nagaland. This award shall be presented annually to Sümi woman/women who qualify/qualifies to study graduate medical course (MBBS) though the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) in India. This award comprises of a certificate and cash prize of Rs. 2,00,000/- (Rupees Two Lakhs only).
Background:
Dr. Toshevi Keditsu Sema is the first lady doctor from the Sümi tribe of Nagaland, India. She completed her MBBS in the year 1977 from Guwahati Medical College. She has great concern for the education and growth of Sümi women particularly in the field of medicine. In line with this perspective, it is her desire to give cash award to any Sümi lady who qualifies to study graduate medical course (MBBS) though the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) in India. As the Chairman and Managing Trustee of Dr. K & T Keditsu Foundation, Nagaland, Dr. Toshevi seeks to uphold two of the organization’s main objectives (women empowerment and education) by presenting this award in her name. In collaboration with the Sümi Totimi Hoho, Nagaland, this award shall be presented annually.
- Award nominee is a woman born to a Sümi father by blood, belonging to the Sümi tribe of Nagaland
- Nominee qualifies the NEET examination of India
- Nominee is enrolled into MBBS course in a government medical college in India
The Sümi Totimi Hoho, Nagaland shall shortlist all Sümi women who qualify for MBBS through the NEET every year, starting from the year 2018. Eligible candidates shall submit an application letter along with a list of documents (see Annexure 1) to the office of Dr. K & T Keditsu Foundation, Kohima. A screening committee shall verify the documents. However, the final selection of awardee(s) is subject to approval by the Board of Trustees, and shall be presented only after the candidate(s) is enrolled into the MBBS course.
This award comprises of a certificate and cash prize of Rs. 1,00,000/- (Rupees one lakh only) and shall be given through the Dr. K & T Keditsu Foundation. In case of more than one eligible candidate in a given year, the cash prize shall be divided equally amongst the awardees. In case the awardee is not present in Nagaland, the award shall be presented in absentia. In case there is no awardee for a given year, the amount sanctioned for the award will be reverted back to the Dr. K & T Keditsu Foundation.
Applicants are required to submit an application letter addressed to the Dr. K & T Keditsu Foundation, along with the supporting documents listed in annexure D, and a contact number for future correspondence. Applications must be sent through email to [email protected]. Documents shall be verified, and applicant intimated through email.
Last date of submission of applications for the year 2019 is 25th October 2019. Any applications submitted after the last date or incomplete applications shall not be entertained.
